Modern slavery – Home Office increases pressure on non-compliant businesses

Businesses who turnover more than £36m are required to publish an annual statement setting out what steps they have taken to combat modern slavery in their supply chains.

A recent Home Office review has indicated that only 60% of businesses are currently complying with their obligations, and they are now taking action. This means you may have received a letter from them recently asking you to publish a statement by 31 March 2019.

They then intend to publish a list of non-compliant companies following an audit of statements on the deadline.

We are already helping a number of organisations to draft an appropriate statement in time for the 31st March deadline. So, if you are still to publish yours, please get it touch to find out how we can help you to understand your requirements to comply with this legislation.
