Ward Hadaway builds up specialist property team

LAW firm Ward Hadaway has expanded its property department with the recruitment of a specialist social housing team.

Partner John Murray and Assistant Solicitor Simon Thirtle have years of experience offering specialist advice to a wide range of operators within the social housing sector.

John has specialised in Housing Law for over 25 years, and is well known in the housing sector, acting for a number of Registered Providers of social housing throughout the country.

John and Simon have a strong reputation, particularly in relation to strategy and enforcement in tackling anti-social behaviour.

They provide advice in relation to Policy and Procedure, and legal services for all aspects of housing management law, from licensees through assured and protected tenancies to shared ownership leases.

John was a member of the Law Society Housing Law Committee for ten years. He is also a legal chair of the Residential Property Tribunal, Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and Rent Assessment Committee.

Simon regularly provides advice and assistance in relation to possession claims, including those based upon rent arrears, anti-social behaviour and the accelerated possession procedure.

He is experienced in representing clients at court in relation to injunction applications on grounds of anti-social behaviour and subsequent committal proceedings for the breach of an injunction.
