Zoom

The Law School is free to attend and exists to deliver training to Registered Providers of Social Housing across the country, educating and updating their housing management staff with the essential legal knowledge that they need.

Hot Topic: The Building Safety Act

The Building Safety Act is now in place; the new Government has promised at the conclusion of the Grenfell Inquiry to accelerate the introduction of supporting regulations.

It is timely to review the complex legal landscape governing the build, use and occupation of residential buildings.

Revision Topic: Dealing with Vexatious Complainants

The new Transparency, Influence, and Accountability Standard (TIAS) came into force on 1 April 2024, replacing the old Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Standard. Registered Providers (RPs) must ensure that complaints are addressed fairly, effectively, and promptly; this is as it should be.

However, how do we deal with vexatious complaints that cause stress to our colleagues and take a disproportionate amount of time to resolve – if they resolve at all? 20% of customers can easily take up 80% of your time; and this is not always justifiable.

This revision session will review steps that can be put in place to meet the standard while protecting staff and the organisation.

If you have any questions about any of the topics, you can ask them in advance via the registration form, or you can use the Q&A feature in Zoom on the day.

If you would like to discuss a more specific matter relating to your organisation please feel free to get in touch with me directly using my details below.

Please note that this event is designed to be informative, not advisory and represents our understanding of English law and practice as at the date indicated. We would always recommend that you should seek specific guidance on any particular legal issue.
