7th January, 2019
Ward Hadaway has kicked off 2019 in style after being awarded Firm of the Year in the Dispute Resolution category (outside London) as part of the Legal 500 UK Awards.
It is the second time in four years that the commercial litigation and debt recovery practice has received the much coveted national accolade of being the best outside of London. Ward Hadaway was also shortlisted for its Employment team’s work.
The awards recognise and reward the best in-house and private practice teams and individuals over the past 12 months and are handed to elite legal practitioners based on the most comprehensive research into the UK legal market.
Peter Hornsey, Head of the Commercial Litigation team, said: “We are delighted to win this award for the support we provide our clients.
“Ward Hadaway’s 33-strong team prides itself on being able to help clients at what is always a challenging time, working with them to deliver the best possible results.
“To be recognised specifically for our expertise in this area by the judges once again, following our success in the same category in 2015, is testament to the investment which the department makes in attracting and retaining the best talent.”
Steven Petrie, a Partner responsible for debt recovery at Ward Hadaway, added: “We pride ourselves on delivering the very best service to our clients and this award demonstrates the quality of work we are doing in the North East and beyond.”
The leading firm from each region of the country for each category is put forward for the title of the best regional law firm.
Ward Hadaway has a strong track record at the Legal 500 national awards, having been awarded top spot nationally in both Real Estate, Finance, and Dispute Resolution over the preceding four years.
Jeffrey Keeble, Head of Litigation and Healthcare at Ward Hadaway, said: “We are delighted with news of this terrific award win and are immensely proud and very fortunate to have a team of such dedicated and exceptionally talented lawyers.”
