Alan is a Director in our Employment team and specialises in both employment law and business immigration. He acts for a wide range of clients across a variety of sectors, including Manufacturing, Entertainment, Life Sciences, Tech and Healthcare.

Alan advises clients on a range of employment issues, including both contentious and non-contentious matters. This includes advising clients on business restructures, large-scale redundancies and collective consultations. Alan also advises on senior executive disputes, complex dismissals and dealing with post-termination restrictive covenants. He also assists clients with complex litigation, negotiating settlements and cross-jurisdictional matters.

Alan has over 10 years’ experience advising businesses on immigration matters and assisting clients with overseas recruitment. This includes assisting with sponsor licence and visa applications, including under the Skilled Worker, Global Talent and Global Business Mobility routes. He also provides support to clients following a merger, takeover or change of ownership and the steps required to ensure compliance with the immigration rules.

Alan also provides advice and training on sponsor licence compliance and the prevention of illegal working, including assisting with complex right to work issues and defending civil penalties. He also assists clients with internal immigration audits and preparing for external audits by the Home Office.

  • Advising a global online sports betting and gaming company with a large-scale reorganisation across the group, including collective redundancies and changes to terms and conditions
  • Successfully assisting a global telecommunications organisation with a complex and high-profile tribunal claim, which included claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination, breach of contract, victimisation and whistleblowing
  • Advising a national public sector client on a large-scale restructure involving over 1000 employees and regarding a complex TUPE and outsourcing arrangement
  • Assisting a national gaming company with an overseas secondment program and advising on various cross-jurisdictional issues
  • Advising a private and independent boarding school with a complex disciplinary and grievance issue involving its designated safeguarding officer
  • Assisting a global manufacturing company on a range of immigration matters, including applying for Skilled Worker visas and managing its sponsor licence as the key contact and level 1 user
  • Assisting a multinational media group with various senior executive transfers, including applying for a number of Global Business Mobility visas
  • Assisting a national health and beauty retailer with a complex right to work issue and successfully defending a civil penalty notice for alleged illegal working
  • Assisting a global multinational finance and insurance company with a large scale audit across the organisation and advising on various overlapping employment and immigration issues
  • Providing advice and training to a leading global chemical company on sponsor licence compliance, including in relation to reporting and record keeping duties
