David advises and represents individuals as well as couples when forming relationships or when those relationships have run their course.
David specialises in high value, complex financial cases arising from divorce, especially where businesses or dynastic wealth is involved. His clients include sports and media personalities, CEOs, business and land owners and often vulnerable parties, reliant on a wealthy spouse’s financial resources who might be worried about their future. He can also advise on injunctive relief, where there is a risk of assets being dissipated or placed beyond the Court’s reach
David’s less combative work includes wealth protection, drafting marital agreements in anticipation of a wedding or living together. He is considered one of the country’s leading experts when it comes to representing both parties in divorce, where they wish to separate amicably using the same solicitor.
David acts for parents, relatives and carers who cannot agree on issues concerning children. Those matters might include relocating with a child, either in the UK or overseas, disputes in relation to medical care or education or generally what the framework for a child’s care should be. David’s cases often include allegations of parental alienation or abusive behaviour and he has helped a great number of parents to achieve shared care outcomes, where the other parent has been obstructive or unwilling to facilitate contact. He has extensive experience of securing protective orders, where needed.
David helps people to take or regain control of their future, securing outcomes for them that allow them to move forward with confidence and certainty.
Experience
David was named Partner of the Year at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards and National Family Law Solicitor of the Year at the Jordan’s Lexis Nexis Family Law Awards.
David has a strong national profile and is known for his sensible, straight-talking, no nonsense approach and his empathy.
David’s formative years as a specialist Family Law Solicitor were spent at a Tier 1 National Firm, working directly for the Department Head. He then went on to become National Head of Family Law at a Top 200 Firm.
One interesting thing
David owns and runs a family business independently of working in Law. It means that when acting for shareholders and entrepreneurs, he can approach their cases with additional knowledge of, and insight into, what it means to be a business owner in a changing market.
David was the first ever solicitor in England & Wales to represent both the husband and the wife in a divorce, in 2021, helping to significantly change, for the better, the way divorce is being done.
