Macmillan Cancer Support – helping those living with Cancer

Background
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest charities in Britain that works extremely hard to provide comprehensive and all-encompassing support to people living with cancer. The charity provides services at every stage of their cancer experience delivering emotional, practical, physical, and financial support.
Our role
With office locations across the North of England, it’s important for us to develop strong and positive relationships with our local communities and support them as best we can. By working closely with regional charities, we also get a good understanding of the people that live and work in the localities we operate within that enables us to help support community activities and initiatives.
We’ve been working with Macmillan Cancer Support since we hosted our first Macmillan coffee morning in 1997. Since then, we have hosted an annual coffee morning each year, raising over £3,500 for the charity. Our support has also extended to offering meeting space to the charity’s North East fundraising team
The Impact
Through our support and fundraising efforts, we’ve raised nearly £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This has enabled the charity to fund a Macmillan Nurse for over two weeks supporting local cancer patients and their families affected by cancer. Macmillan nurses play a vital role in caring for those living with cancer. They help people understand what to expect from their diagnosis and provide personalised support in helping them to manage symptoms and side effects.
